Proposal The History of Forensic Science and Arson Investigation
What I would like to do for my individual project is to study a field of science, and trace back its history. The field that I would like to study is the forensic science field. I would focus mostly on arson investigation which is one of the types of forensic science. I would also touch on other types of forensic science and how they all have similarities and differences. I would then trace this field back to Chemistry, which is an extremely important part of forensic lab work. From there, I will talk about how it dates back to Alchemy and to the dark ages. I will also talk about Russell A. Ogle, Gregory Haussmann, Robert J. Lucas, Andrew R. Carpenter, Delmar R. Morrison III who all wrote a paper on The Scientific Investigation of Arson Fires and explain how this helped me in investigating this. In order to do this I will work with my brother who is a forensic chemist, and I will be able to obtain papers on this field.
